The museum was opened in summer 2002. It owes its existence to the commitment of the supporting organization.
Nortorf was seat of the TELDEC company. Within Schleswig-Holstein it is therefore still known as the "city of the long play record". Accordingly, one of the main topics presented in the museum exhibition is the development from shellac record over LP to CD. But the comprehensive collection also deals with tefifon, audiotape and music cassette. In addition, parts of the historical Nortorf pharmacy and other exhibits on the city history are shown. A slide show with old views of the city is presented in maybe the smallest cinema of Germany. Presently, the supportive organization is setting up two further buildings the museum is allowed to use for an expansion of the exhibition. |
