The Mecklenburg Foundation preserves and tells the history and culture of Mecklenburg!
Since its foundation in 1973, the Mecklenburg Foundation has amassed a wide-ranging collection of Mecklenburgica and presented it in exhibitions, publications and events on the culture and history of Mecklenburg. The Mecklenburg Foundation also organises travelling exhibitions, lectures, readings and projects to promote Low German. The work of the foundation is supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Mecklenburg Foundation presents the most beautiful and interesting items from its collection in the permanent exhibition Mecklenburg - so far, so near under the motto ‘In one hour through 300 years of Mecklenburg history’ in the Schleswig-Holstein House.

Adventure 1900
In 2004, one of the more than 1,200 Mecklenburg manor houses gained nationwide fame: Belitz.
Situated between Rostock and Güstrow in the middle of a charming park, the estate became the setting for a film journey back in time to the year 1900.
The seasons of the ARD television series Abenteuer 1900 - Leben im Gutshaus were filmed here, in which the protagonists faced the challenges of everyday life one hundred years ago in the roles of lords and servants. Our programme of events combines history, entertainment and culinary delights. After a brief historical introduction to the topic of the Mecklenburg estate economy and the manor houses as typical regional specialities, an episode from the ARD series will be shown.
This part of the event lasts approx. 45 minutes.

Afterwards, the traditional Café Rothe awaits you for coffee and cake.
