The museum is located in the Burmesterhaus since 1927. It is a timber-framed craftsman’s house from the end of the 18th century, which once also had a small farm. The building is under protection as a historical monument today. Recently it has been completely restored. Its interior has been refurnished with regard to modern aspects of a museum. The teacher Hans Wilhelm Sierck initiated the extensive collection as early as 1910. Main focal points are the life and work of the people in a church village on the geest ridge of middle Holstein up to our century. Huge photographs and several dioramas vividly bring the past back to life.
Regular exhibitions on art, culture and regional history. Additionally, exhibitions on modern art in the council gallery of the town hall.
