Description
The historical steam ship “Alexandra” originates from the year 1908 and is the oldest of its kind that is still used for outings in public transport. A traditional club fondly maintains it. It anchors in the museum port and is available for regular round trips on the Flensburger Förde (Flensburg Bay) in the summer months.
The “Alex” used to transport millions of passengers preferably on the route Flensburg-Glücksburg until the shipowners took it out of service in 1975. At that time she was endangered of being scrapped. Only by the commitment of dedicated friends the “Alex” was commissioned again. In 1982 she was acknowledged as a cultural monument and in 1990 reclassified as a passenger ship.
