Description
The „Naturerlebnisstätte Wildpark Eekholt“ (nature adventure game park Eekholt) stretches on an enclosed ground of 65 ha. This site invites visitors to long walks. In different ecological systems like wood, water, bog or heath there is an abundance of native wild animal and bird species. The game park is responsible for the protection, cultivation and maintenance. In addition, it aims to foster direct contact of the visitors with nature and to consolidate the understanding for ecological interrelations. To this end numerous exhibitions, exciting guided tours and an abundant educational programme on nature for the young and the old are offered throughout the year. The park with its playgrounds, barbecue places and a restaurant is frequently chosen as a destination for family outings.
Numerous domestic wild birds and animals live here in different ecosystems such as the forest, water, moor, or heath. In addition to conservation, breeding, and caretaking, the wildlife park is dedicated to facilitating direct encounters with nature and promoting an understanding of ecological relationships.
