The cultural monument from the period of promoterism houses one of the most comprehensive collections on the festivity of Christmas. Starting with the Biedermeier period the development of Christmas decoration and the arrangement of the Christmas festivity in past decades are shown. On the ground floor visitors can marvel at five historically decorated Christmas trees and find information on, for instance, Christmas during wartime, the illumination of Christmas trees or the production of Christmas baubles. One focal point of the collection is the importance of the Erzgebirge region for the production of Christmas decoration. Angels, pyramids and ceiling lights are decorations that are nationally well-known and delight many more people than just collectors and insiders. To end your museum visit you might like to come into the historic museum shop which offers nostalgic Christmas decoration and numerous books on Christmas.
