The Brunsbüttel local history museum was established in the former town hall of the old town in 1990. The town historical collection from the former local history museum in the ‘Matthias-Boie-Haus’ was integrated into the exhibition. The eventful history of the town at the entrance of the Kiel Canal is presented by historical maps, plans, photos and other records. Handcraft and objects of daily use show the work and life of families that lived in Brunsbüttel. Records on the works of personalities such as artists and poets, Cape Horn sailors, pilots, whalers, peat cutters etc. constitute other focal points of the exhibition.Special exhibitions on different topics are shown in irregular intervals.
