The Museum "betont" is located in the historic town hall of Kellinghusen. In the rooms steeped in history, it combines two themes in an informative and playful way: the local ceramic tradition and historical keyboard instruments. As the only specialised museum for ceramics in Schleswig-Holstein, its permanent exhibition illuminates the radiantly beautiful Kellinghusen faiences of the 18th and 19th centuries in all their facets, presents their variety of forms, offers an insight into the history of their manufacture, explains their production, distribution and use. At the same time, the museum displays outstanding historical keyboard instruments from the important Eric Feller collection. They combine innovative technology with handcrafted elegance and bring the musical flavour of the centuries to life.
A visit to the museum is thus an inspiring journey through European musical and intellectual history.
Both thematic areas, ceramics and instruments, interact with each other in the permanent exhibition. They can be viewed individually, but when viewed together they offer interesting parallels. They each tell stories of craftsmanship, past lifestyles and the diversity of flavours.
In special exhibitions, the museum focuses on the history of Kellinghusen on the one hand and presents contemporary ceramics on the other. Concerts on historical instruments and workshops on individual instruments focus on their original use and remind us that they are more than just museum pieces.

The museum is dedicated to the town’s traditional ceramics. The collections focus on the famous Kellinghusen faience produced in the 18th and 19th century. Plates with a bright yellow floral-patterned rim and a colourful bouquet of flowers at the centre are what made Kellinghusen’s faience famous.
