Description
The „Gesellschaft für Tönninger Stadtgeschichte” (Society for the town history of Tönning) has presented the exhibition “ Tönning in the course of time” in the historical warehouse at the harbour since 1984. Topics are, for instance, the early settlement until the Viking Age, the castle and the fortress of the 17th century, export of animals for slaughter to England, the shipyard for the building of metal ships and the local history of the first half of the 20th century. The warehouse itself gives evidence of this period that was very important for Tönning. In addition, changing exhibitions are shown.
The historical warehouse on the harbour houses the “Tönning through the ages” exhibit. Topics include the early settlement of the town during the Viking Age, the 17th-century castle and the fort, the export of animals for slaughter to England, the iron shipyard, and local history during the first half of the 20th century. Changing exhibitions are also on display.
