Description
The museum is located on the floor of the former cowshed of the Steinhorst district estate. Built in 1879, the 60 metre long drive-through barn was used to store feed and straw supplies. The listed building covers an area of 1,500 square metres and houses a collection of historical equipment from various trades, agriculture, forestry and everyday life that is almost unique in northern Germany. These include a shoemaker's workshop, a grocer's shop, a bookbindery and print shop as well as the carriage and fire brigade collection.
Located in the straw and feed store of a former cowshed, this museum exhibits a large collection of restored equipment and machinery used for forestry, agriculture, housekeeping and myriad crafts and trades from different eras. Some of the items are still functional and can be used under supervision.
